Eyebrow embroidery (often called microblading) is a semi-permanent makeup procedure. A technician uses a specialized tool with fine needles to deposit pigment into the upper layer of the skin, creating thin, natural-looking hair strokes that mimic real eyebrow hairs.

Because the pigment doesn’t go as deep as a traditional tattoo, it gradually fades over time. On average, the results last anywhere from 1 to 3 years. How long it lasts depends heavily on your skin type (oily skin tends to fade pigment faster), lifestyle, and how well you follow the aftercare instructions.

Most people experience only minimal discomfort. Before the procedure begins, the technician will apply a topical numbing cream to the eyebrow area and let it sit to dull the pain. Often, a secondary numbing agent is applied during the process to ensure you remain comfortable. Clients typically describe the sensation as a light scratching or scraping feeling rather than sharp pain.

The initial healing process usually takes about 7 to 14 days, though the pigment will fully settle over about a month.

• The stages: Your brows will look significantly darker and bolder for the first few days. Around days 4 to 7, they will likely start to flake and peel. It is crucial not to pick or scratch the scabs, as this can pull out the pigment and lead to patchy results.

• Aftercare: You will be advised to keep your eyebrows completely dry for the first several days (avoiding sweat, swimming, and direct shower spray) and to stay out of direct sunlight.
